Traditions Old and New
Take inventory of the holiday traditions you really enjoy the most. Then, find a way to make them travel friendly – and open yourself to finding some new traditions along the way!
If you pride yourself on multiple stunning tree displays, downsize to a tabletop size that can slide up against your RV’s fireplace, on bedroom and bunkhouse bedside tables, and an Advent wreath at your dining room table. Do you decorate your home’s exterior? Adorn your power awning with lights. Do you read A Christmas Carol – and go Christmas caroling – each year? Grab a Kindle version to pack along, and find out what community service events are open to the public at your destination. Are there parades, community performances, or holiday lighting displays? Modify your favorite traditions and embrace new experiences along the way!
Stay Flexible
One thing that makes the holidays stressful for anyone is unreasonable expectations. What would happen if you just…let go of expectations this year? Stay flexible and extend patience to yourself and those around you. Stay curious about new opportunities and the memories you can make from them. If the turkey is taking longer to cook, don’t fret – just pour a glass of mulled cider, and kick your feet up for a minute while you listen to a few more carols play through Spotify.
